aprons

just a quick post to show some aprons and blahg about what i'm working on. recently as i have said afore, i joined 4 yahoo groups. And the fiber group in particular is proving to be alot of fun. i made a friend in the cloth doll group (she's really nice), of course i love the paper doll group, and as of yet have done nothing except introduce myself to the atc group. i think i have chosen well and will keep very busy with both my groups and my own pursuits. (one can only hope). anywho i got the purple apron done and heres one i made last year. also a sort of sneak preview of what i hope to make for my fiber group. we will see if i have the moxie to participate in a trade. if i do i will be both pleased and surprised. fingers crossed!

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

its been a long fun day. i got alot done again today. mostly chores but i was able to get a little bit of sewing done. a very little drawing and i wanted to show the only apron i have left of my Mom's. it is very fragile so i'm probably going to have to wrap it up and pack it away. just looking at it makes me think of pearls and heels. Ah well, I also finally finished my youngest daughters top. She loves purple and i put a key lime green pocket on it just to annoy her. life just isn't worth living unless you can irritate your children. Get a little bit of your own back for all the drama they put you through in those teen years;) I didn't get any paperdolls done today so i just did a drawing. the Ocean's 11,12 and 13 marathon went well, tomorrow the pirates!! okay i'm sleepy now and once again Gypsy has beaten me to the mark. slaap lekker!

hellabusy day

i got alot done today and now i can craft about the cabin freely. Yea! i finally got to make some paperdolls. I made M'tee on Thursday, M'tild last night and Xana woke me up and 2 this morning demanding to be made. I wasn't doing any justice to the sleeping thing so i let her have her way. They were fun to make and i can't wait to make more. However at some point this weekend i'm going to have to actually make a cloth doll. (sigh) a crafters work is NEVER done:)

here is the dress i promised too. it looks better on me, the back was scaring me a bit but it looks better on. i was running through the house checking all the mirrors to make sure. I'm also going to have to consult my camera manual so i can get better pictures. every time i try to take a close up shot all i get is blur. This camera is supposed to take the close up shot so it must be operator error. Fine! I'll read the big bloody book of instructions. AND the manual for my new phone. i got alotta readin to dooooo!! Okay i'm sleepy now. Gypsy says Nightall!

oops

i put the back of the top up top by mistake but what i meant to say was i painted that skull on black fabric using watered down bleach. I had a bleach pen but it was defective so i just made a mix of a little bleach and mostly water, put some plastic down and went to work. i've heard of this technique and always wanted to try it but never have til today. Which is why i didn't know the skul would be that eery red color. it was a mistake that turned out really cool looking. My girl will love it cus she is very very morbid. okay this really is good night.

groups

i just joined a few yahoo groups, i was so excited at the prospect of meeting new people and learning new things. now i'm just plain mortified, what have i done? I hate being the new kid! well i'm me, that's the only me i know to be so hopefully and prayerfully all will be well. if not, lesson learned, move on to the next thing. nuff said!

my eldest daughter is away and i like to send her pics of cute things that i'm making for her. So today even though at first neither my mood nor my body were cooperating i dragged my butt into the boutique and sewed for a while. So i finished her camouflage skull apron top and cap. The cap is a new pattern i'm trying so i didn't embellish it or anything. but the next one i make will definitely have a skull on it. i got the pattern from this biker cap i bought at wal-mart. it was too small for my big head AND my fat hair so i had to take it apart and make it bigger. Since i had extra camouflage bandannas left from the apron to i decided to go ahead and make one for my girl first. it could use some tweaking but it fits my big head And my fat hair.

the next top i'm working on is going to be from bandannas too but i am making this one longer and i'm probably gonna put a back on this one. We'll see. I really want to make the maxi one, but i need more coordinating scraps.

sleepy

just posting very quickly to say i woke up with an idea for an art project. perhaps it was remnants of a dream but i was really interested to see where this thought stream would take me today so i followed it all day. unfortunately, i didn't get to finish them today. because one turned into 3 somehow but i think i'm on the right path and i did make progress so we will see where it goes later this week. and whether it turns out well or ill, i will post it. i have to be just as proud of my failures as my successes. i'm learning that.

long time no see

Wow, i can't believe it took me a week to blog, but i have been reading some amazing things and watching some pretty awesome artists at work. I absolutely love youtube!! i joined a cloth doll group a few weeks ago, i'm not exactly a joiner so i don't know how long that will last. but we will see. But all their messages about dolls and doll pins and paperdolls sound pretty interesting at the moment. I also found some artdolls and while searching for those, i found these really cool mixed media collage artists. They do a lot of work but they were also having alot of fun. the ones i was blown away by this week were timewithtascha.blogspot.com and suziblu, they were fun to watch let me tell ya. Anyway, Gypsy and I were sort of shut off from the world for a while today and i took that time to doodle. they were fun to do and i would have liked to have made more but that darn short attention span kicked in and i stopped. They will either end up as journal covers, cards, a wall hanging or a tryptych i haven't decided yet. And they haven't hinted as to what they would like. so we will see. if this works there will be photos attached to this blog. if it doesn't work i will post them by themselves.

blue butterfly

i don't know why i called this blue floral, you can't see the flowers from the front. so it should probably be called blue butterfly top. Anyway, even though my arm was bugging me i took some time to finish this one. i really just wanted to see how it would come out. i really like it. i think it's time to work on some bottoms though. i think i'll make a skirt before i do another top or dress.

slow going

Well today G and I got to work in the boutique for a while (the black room). I thought that i would be able to finish the blue floral apron top but my arm started to seriously hurt so i had to stop. I'm not bummed, i just really wanted to finish it. I want to see how the colors work together cus it was 3 of my favorite remnants. Now i have to wait til Monday. if my arm feels better tomorrow i'll work in the critter shop. But if not i have movies to watch and books to read soo there's plenty to do still. I finally got up the nerve to email futuregirl and let her know how much her blog has motivated and encouraged me. She was very nice, i'm glad i thanked her.

these should have gone with that last post. i think i tried to put too many pics together or something, either way it seems its a day for technical difficulties. this apron top was made from my favorite batik fabric and i gave it a lining as the pattern called for it. i can already tell the lining is going to make it too hot for Fla. and it's too big anyway so i'm going to have to take it apart and redo the top part. it shouldn't take that long.

this one is recycled t-shirts with ribbon i bought from Michaels at a dollar a spool. it didn't even use up the whole spool. Anyway while i was making this i thought wouldn't it be cute to make a little skirt with ribbon trim for my daughter? I have to find a purple t-shirt first or dye a white one. She will love it!

today took a strange turn

I had fully intended to spend the day sewing but best laid plans i guess... My youngest daughter bought me a phone for mothers day. (one of those pink ones being advertised) That was very sweet of her but it took all day and much of the evening for one phone to relinquish my phone number and for another to retrieve it. I know all about this sort of thing from prior dealings with phone companies, so i resolved not to become unduly distressed no matter what. I was very patient and understanding today and i was tested for most of the day but i have made it. The phone works and i am content. I am planning to visit my daughter in Fla. this summer and because i know how hot it gets i'm making as many sundresses as i can. I also seem to be addicted to bandannas at the moment. i just sewed 5 together for this blue one and put tons of little buttons in front. I actually made this one last year and never got to wear it. The white one is an apron top, i found the pattern in a Sew Simple magazine last year or the year before and i never got the chance to make one. Then i saw a whole bunch of them at guttersgoods.com and they had me drooling. I just had to make one this year. Now i'm addicted to the things and can't stop making them. That was what i was working on before the phone fiasco began. Ah well, there's always tomorrow, er today.

This is Gypsy

She is a 2o month old maltipoo that my daughter bought me for Christmas 06. She has been my constant companion ever since. I love her dearly. And because she gets into EVERYTHING i suspect she'll be pawlogging from time to time. though i doubt it'll be legible cus i know she can't spell.
